A film looking to inspire new thinking and spark curiosity
Now more than ever, as funding for science and research is in question, we need to tell the stories of curiosity-driven people. We need to constantly remind ourselves that when humans ask big questions and explore the edges of the unknown, we surprise ourselves in meaningful and unexpected ways. Science can be messy, controversial, and confusing, but SPEAKING FOR EARTH is a film that calls engaging attention to the process, and asks the viewer to reflect on what it means to push forward despite the challenges.
Whether or not we find extraterrestrial life, the grit and optimism required to do the work is something worth a conversation.
How You Can Help
As an independent documentary film, every dollar goes directly into what you see on screen. By the end of filming, we will have shot in 13 cities. Donations go to plane tickets, baggage fees (for our 10 cases of camera equipment), hotel rooms, and location fees for some of the gorgeous shots of these remote telescopes.
Once filming is completed, then we move into post production, where we need hard drives for hundreds of hours with of footage, music composition, sound design, a color grade, and highly technical labor to prepare our film to hit theaters and streaming platforms.
We’re asking you to help us cover a portion of these costs in our current campaign to raise $30,000. If you believe in the power of curiosity-driven science, and think those stories deserve the highest quality care in how they’re told, please consider a tax deductible donation to SPEAKING FOR EARTH.
What’s Next…
SPEAKING FOR EARTH is almost through production. We’ve been working on this film for nearly two years, traveling to cities across the globe to tell the story. The end of filming is in sight, and with the help of our supporters, we’re going to push this film over the finish line. We are planning to complete production by early 2026, and having a completed film by the end of 2026.
